Mama Chungu’s lifelong beliefs

The life and values of Mama Chungu inspire us and the Foundation’s aims and conduct.

She drew inspiration from her catholic beliefs and was a pillar of the local church.

She believed in loyalty and devotion to her husband, community, and family.

She was always generous to the less fortunate and those in need of food or water or advice.

She believed in education as the route to success even though she was not educated herself.

She believed in empowering women through her own example and by offering a helping hand.

She believed that keys to good health were access to clean water, cleanliness and sanitation.

The Foundation takes its lead from Mama Chungu. We believe that the Foundation must be:
